This Incident was took place at a hospital in Agra, A pregnant woman was allegedly denied treatment at a community health centre (CHC) as the facility did not have surgical gloves.
According to Timesnownews , Community health centre is located in Etmadpur block of Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
The woman stayed in labour for over 10 hours and even lost her child to medical apathy
The woman was identified as Guddi Devi and her husband was identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of Chawali village
Around 9.30 pm Guddi complained of labour pain and was rushed to the CHC in an ambulance on May 18
A female staff member of the hospital examined Guddi and asked the couple to come back the next day.
Anil requested the hospital to admit his wife as she was in pain but they Unable to help his wife.
So, Anil turned to the sub-divisional magistrate of Etmadpur for help
The staff members allegedly started misbehaving with Anil after they learned that he had complained to the SDM.
At around 11 pm, Anil was asked to bring a pair of surgical gloves so that the doctors could start the treatment.Due to the lockdown Anil could not find the gloves
Anil and his wife returned home at around 3 am as the CHC refused to treat her.
Guddi lost consciousness and was taken to a private hospital On May 19
The doctors at the private hospital conducted an ultrasound and told Anil that his child had died in the wound.
Anil told “My child could have been saved if she was provided treatment at the CHC. I hope the authorities will take cognizance of the matter and ensure strict action. ”
After the complaint was filed,Etmadpur SDM Jyoti Rai issued a notice to the CHC administration
